Lesson Goals:
Provide practice with numbers 1-20
Methods
Anticipatory Set:
(Whole Class) VIDEO- “10 Little Numbers” on SmartBoard to recall and visualize what the numerals 1-10.look like
Introduce and Model New Knowledge:
Sitting in a circle on the rug, place a hula hoop in the center. Using manipulatives (rubber circus animals) add them to the circus ring as we count orally together. Use Phonic FM Sound System for Evan a hearing disabled child with bilateral hearing aids
Provide Guided Practice:
Distribute individual rings and manipulatives to each child. Distribute cards with numerals on them to each child based on individual ability. Allow for practice time using this time to visit each to monitor progress. Aide will help Peter to read the cards. Jake and Derek will work together on numerals 20-30.
Provide Independent Practice:
Move to tables, each child counts the apples in each of 5 baskets, then puts the card that tells how many into the envelope in the basket. Teacher confirms or asks student to recount.
